Operation Warm
How can our club buy new winter coats for kids at $15 each? Operation Warm is a nationwide program that buys over 150,000 coats every winter...power buying made easy.
In 2009, our members were instantly on board. We raised the needed money in two weeks, adopted the childrens clients of the Rockford Rescue Mission and teamed with Barnes & Noble Books and North Suburban Library.
The elementary children read books to "earn" their coats. The library collected mittens, hats and scarves to compliment the coats. Twenty Rotarians gathered at the mission and personally presented the coats. For some it was their first new coat. The excitement on their faces spread to everyone involved.
